Washington tournament guide
Washington’s tournament has a place of its own on the calendar: it is the only combined event where the ATP and WTA competitions are both played at the 500 level. The 2026 women’s main draw runs from July 27 to August 2 during the opening phase of the North American hard-court swing.
Men’s and women’s matches share the Washington event, but this page keeps the women’s schedule isolated so fans can scan WTA singles and doubles without mixing the two tours.
The tournament is played at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. Its established Washington setting gives the event a different identity from the larger stadium-based WTA 1000 stops that follow.
A WTA 500 title carries substantial ranking value. Players can use Washington to build hard-court form before Toronto, Cincinnati and the US Open.
