National Bank Open Toronto tickets are generally final sale: a rain delay does not produce a cash refund. A qualifying single-session ticket bought directly from Tennis Canada or Ticketmaster may instead receive a limited credit when both official play thresholds are unmet. Use this guide to identify the rule that applies, but let the tournament's ticket office decide individual eligibility.

Rules and session status can change. Keep the original ticket and purchase email, and use the official Toronto alerts page and inclement-weather policy for the final decision.
National Bank Open Toronto rain policy: the quick answer
There are no rain refunds. The official policy says all sales are final. For certain Toronto single-session tickets purchased directly through Tennis Canada or Ticketmaster, the remedy can be a credit toward another eligible session—not money returned to the card. Availability, deadlines, price differences and ticket type all matter.
| Situation | General outcome |
|---|---|
| Ordinary rain delay, play may resume | Keep the ticket and follow official updates; no automatic refund |
| One match completed or 90 minutes played | Session is considered complete; no credit, exchange or refund |
| Less than one match and less than 90 minutes | An eligible direct-purchase ticket may receive a limited credit |
| Late-round session cancelled | Ticket is honored for the rescheduled session under the special final-session rule |
A changed start time, different player, revised order of play or fewer matches is not itself a credit trigger. Fans buy access to a session, not a guarantee that one named athlete will appear. Weather, poor air quality, extreme heat, public-authority directions and other events outside tournament control can fall under the same policy framework.
Do not decide eligibility from a weather forecast. Check the official Toronto alert, retain the ticket, and wait for the ticket office to contact the original purchaser if the session qualifies. Use our WTA Toronto schedule and results page to see whether play is delayed, suspended, moved or complete.
The one-match and 90-minute credit test
The controlling policy uses two thresholds. If one match is completed or 90 minutes of play has taken place on the court for which the ticket was purchased, the session counts as complete. No exchange, credit or refund follows. A standard eligible ticket enters the possible-credit path only when less than one match is completed and less than 90 minutes is played.
Example A: 65 minutes, no complete match
Both values are below the limits. If the ticket and seller qualify, the original purchaser may be offered credit.
Example B: 70-minute match completed
One match finished, so the session is complete even though play lasted less than 90 minutes.
Example C: 95 minutes, match unfinished
The 90-minute threshold was reached, so the session is complete despite no finished match.
The test refers to play on the court attached to the purchased ticket, not every court on the grounds. It is also the tournament—not a spectator's stopwatch—that determines the official amount of play and the session outcome. Warm-ups, drying time and a weather hold should not be independently counted as match play.
When credit is offered, processing and delivery fees are excluded. The holder may need to pay a price difference, availability is not guaranteed, the original ticket must be kept, and the Box Office sets an expiry period. These conditions are why “rain guarantee” is a misleading shorthand.
Which Toronto tickets are excluded
Passing the play-time test does not make every Toronto ticket credit-eligible. The official Toronto exception list excludes all Series tickets, including Premium Series, Champions Club and Courtside subscriber products; Chairperson's Lounge tickets; complimentary tickets; and tickets bought through an auction, resale marketplace or other secondary outlet.
- Direct seller matters. The standard policy applies only to purchases made directly through Tennis Canada or Ticketmaster.
- Original purchaser matters. The ticket office contacts the account that bought the eligible ticket, not necessarily the person who attended after a transfer.
- Product type matters. Series subscribers already have continuing tournament access, so their packages are treated differently from a single-session seat.
- Premium hospitality has separate terms. A private suite stays open during rain; when thresholds are unmet, part of the paid suite may be credited to the original purchaser for the following year, subject to availability.

Toronto sessions 17 through 21 also have a special rule: if cancelled, tickets are honored for the rescheduled session only. Parking, VIP Lounge and suite access remain tied to the originally purchased session. For a cancelled session 21 private-suite reschedule, the policy says catering is not included.
If the ticket came from another person, ask the original purchaser to monitor the email address on the account. If it came from a reseller, contact that seller about its separate terms; Tennis Canada's standard credit policy expressly excludes secondary purchases. A wanted player withdrawing is not a weather refund event. Track confirmed player changes in our Toronto players and withdrawals guide.
What to do before and during a rain delay
A forecast icon is not a tournament cancellation. The organizer tells ticket holders to come to Sobeys Stadium unless an official update says otherwise, because showers can pass and courts can be dried. If play stops after arrival, waiting is usually safer than assuming the session is finished; matches may restart, and voluntarily leaving does not create a refund or credit.

- Before leaving home: open the Toronto Schedule Changes and Alerts page, check the order of play, and download the NBO app. Turn on push notifications for match changes and weather alerts.
- Pack for both outcomes: bring light layers, a poncho or rain jacket, a charged phone and an empty reusable bottle. Umbrellas are allowed, but must remain closed inside the stadium during play.
- At the gate: keep the mobile ticket accessible and arrive with time for security. Rain can concentrate arrivals near a later restart announcement.
- During a hold: follow staff directions and official screens or app messages. Find covered areas, food, shops or other activities without blocking concourses and exits.
- Before leaving: ask gate staff about the current session status. In-and-out privileges exist, but the ticket must be scanned when exiting and re-entering.
Keep phone power for both updates and entry. The official app provides scores, daily orders of play, real-time schedule changes and weather alerts; location-based alerts can be enabled in its settings. That makes it more useful than repeatedly refreshing a generic weather app, which cannot determine court safety or the restart time.
When the delay affects watching from home, broadcasters may fill time, move to another court or change channels. Confirm the official match status first, then check the licensed service. Our WTA Toronto TV and streaming guide explains how to separate a rain hold from a missing feed.
How credits, rescheduled sessions and ticket emails work
Ticket holders normally do not submit a rain claim immediately. When an eligible session qualifies, the Toronto ticket office contacts the original purchaser by email. Check the inbox and spam folder tied to the Tennis Canada or Ticketmaster account, and do not discard the original ticket or order confirmation.
1. Official determination
The tournament decides whether the session was delayed, completed, cancelled or rescheduled and whether the play thresholds were met.
2. Account email
Eligible original purchasers receive instructions and available options. A transferred guest should coordinate with the buyer.
3. Redeem on time
Use the official route within the stated period, choose from available sessions and pay any required price difference.
The full policy says an eligible credit applies toward a future session of the same year's event, subject to availability. The 2026 Toronto alert likewise says 2026 credits must be used during the 2026 tournament. A broader help-page summary mentions this year or next year, so the specific email from the Box Office and the current full policy should control your case rather than an older or condensed sentence.
A rescheduled late-round session works differently: sessions 17 through 21 are honored on the new date rather than exchanged for another session. Use only the official tournament website for a rescheduled-ticket process. Parking and hospitality benefits may remain valid only for the original session, so read the message beyond the headline.
If no email arrives after the tournament announces eligibility, confirm the purchasing account and contact Toronto ticketing at the address shown in the official help centre. A reseller customer should contact the resale platform instead. Never send payment details in response to an unofficial social-media message offering a “rain refund.”
Toronto rain-delay and refund FAQ
Will I get cash back if it rains?
No. The official policy says all sales are final and there are no refunds. A narrow group of eligible direct-purchase single-session tickets may receive credit when less than one match and less than 90 minutes of play occur.
What if exactly one match finishes in under 90 minutes?
The session is complete because the completed-match threshold has been reached. Both values must be below their thresholds for the standard potential-credit route.
What if 90 minutes pass but no match finishes?
The session is still considered complete. Reaching either one completed match or 90 minutes blocks the ordinary credit.
Can I get a refund because my favorite player withdrew?
No. The ticket is for a session, not a promised player. Order-of-play changes, withdrawals and match substitutions do not independently create a refund or credit.
Can I transfer my ticket during uncertain weather?
The help centre allows ticket transfers. However, any eligible rain-policy email goes to the original purchaser, so the buyer and recipient should remain in contact. An accepted transfer also replaces the old barcode.
Can I leave Sobeys Stadium and return?
Yes, the venue says in-and-out privileges are available, but speak to staff and have the ticket scanned on exit and re-entry. Do not simply walk out assuming rain has ended the session.
Are umbrellas allowed?
Yes, but they must stay closed inside the stadium during play. A compact umbrella plus a poncho is practical because open umbrellas can block views and movement.
Who should I contact about a disputed decision?
Use the Toronto ticket office details on the official NBO help page and include the order number, session, ticket type and purchasing email. Resale buyers should contact their own platform. This article cannot override the Box Office's determination.
The most reliable sequence is to preserve the ticket, follow official Toronto updates, wait for the session determination and then act only on the email attached to the original purchase. That protects you from outdated snippets, false refund messages and a costly assumption made while courts are only temporarily covered.
Take a screenshot of the official status for your records, but keep checking the live page because a screenshot quickly becomes stale. Save the purchasing email, not just the mobile barcode, and note the session number. Those details let the ticket office identify the correct product and distinguish a short delay from a formally cancelled or credit-eligible session.
