Why the 2026 WTA Finals are at Indian Wells
The WTA announced on July 1 that the season-ending championship would be staged at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden from November 8-15. The current tournament page now identifies Indian Wells as the host and lists the surface as hard court.

Important correction
Riyadh is not the current 2026 host. Some older calendar copies and archived coverage still reflect the earlier plan, but the WTA's July 1 announcement moved the event to Indian Wells.

How the WTA Finals format works

Semifinals and finals
The group winners and runners-up move into a single-elimination semifinal and final. The bracket crosses the groups so a group winner faces the runner-up from the other group. From this point, one loss ends the title bid.

How group ties are broken
The 2026 WTA Rulebook starts with the greatest number of wins and then the greatest number of matches played. If two players or teams remain tied, head-to-head decides the order.
